Finn started in goal and with a full outfield
squad available we had options in all positions. The starting 9 gave an excellent
account of themselves with some great football on a challenging surface. Gravesham
were a well organised resilient team who were making it hard for us to break
them down and had a few opportunities themselves before a good move was
finished by Louis and we went 1-0 up.
Further goals from Louis and Luke was a fair
reflection of our attacking threat and we went in at half time 3-0 up.
As coaches we felt these first three games
would be an opportunity to get a fair amount of game time for the squad
especially when travelling away and give us the knowledge to assess our
strengths moving forward.
The four subs were all introduced at half time
which was not a reflection of those making way who had certainly made a
positive impression and given us good reason to include them in the starting 9.
The second half started with a very lively Gravesham approach and we were put
under pressure immediately. After a period of good defending the opposition
finally made a breakthrough to make it 3-1, the lads responded well with some
positive counter attacks and although Gravesham got a long range second goal it
was Henry who secured all three points with our fourth goal and a 4-2 win. All
the players showed a great attitude & commitment and we look forward to a
top of the table clash against North Kent on November 23rd. Player rotation in
matches may now become a little more tactical and related to game management
but the squad strength is sure to give us excellent options moving forward. We
are hopeful a training session will be arranged prior to the next game, more
info to follow.
